What Can Be Done To Prevent Future School Shootings?

December 14th, 2012 | Comments Off on What Can Be Done To Prevent Future School Shootings? |

School Shootings in ConnecticutFirst off, everyone effected in any way by the horrific school shootings in Connecticut today will be included in my prayers. There isn’t a decent soul in this country that isn’t grieving for those innocent lives that were lost today.

I have a mild glimpse of the emotions going through every citizen and child involved in that horrible crime. A few years ago, while living in Payson Arizona, I received a call from a friend who informed me that my children’s school was in lock down. Someone on school grounds had seen a man wearing a trench coat, carrying a gun, walking around the school’s premises.

Advertise Your Business on the Radio

December 13th, 2012 | Comments Off on Advertise Your Business on the Radio |

Advertise your business on the radioI’m not sure how you work your home based business, but as for me, sometimes I get a little case of tunnel vision when it comes to marketing. Promoting my business on the internet just seem so much easier than other forms of advertising, such as buying a print media ad or radio media buying.

One thing I’ve learned in my time as an internet marketer, is when it comes to marketing, diversification is key. If you have multiple forms of advertising in place, when one fizzles out, the others can keep your business going until it recovers or is replaced.

Lead poverty will sign the death certificate of any home based business. If you don’t have leads to either talk to, text or email, your business is dead in the water. Leads are the lifeblood of your business.

With that said, quick story about advertising on the radio. I am a complete sucker when it comes to infomercials. But only when the product being promoted is something that interests me, or that I’ve been thinking about. If you’ve ever seen a picture of me, like the one below in my author bio, I have chosen to shave my head. For one, I’m sexier that way, and two, I was thinning on top. So when I heard the “Avacore” commercials on the radio a few years back, I was sold.

All The Ladies are Envious

December 13th, 2012 | Comments Off on All The Ladies are Envious |

The Ladies are EnviousOne of my biggest worries lately is that I may not be working as much as I should be. I’ve been spending a lot of time, running around town, attending my children’s events, coaching basketball, and doing everything else, other than working. On average, I probably get a solid two to four hours of focused work accomplished in a day. I mean, I can piece in thirty minutes here or there, but I’m not very productive during those times.

Today, I attended my daughters Christmas program. After dropping our kids off at school, just as we do every morning, we decided to drive over the the auditorium in order to get a good seat. We had about 35 minutes to kill before the show started, and so the funnest thing to do, of course, is to check out all the interesting people pouring in. As they do, I start noticing how many ladies there were in the room.

A Tribute to Personal Development Guru Zig Ziglar

December 7th, 2012 | Comments Off on A Tribute to Personal Development Guru Zig Ziglar |

Zig ZiglarI’d like to write a quick tribute to personal development Guru, Zig Ziglar. He was born on November 6, 1926, and left this world on November 28, 2012. He was 86 years old.

Zig Ziglar

I remember the first time I listened to Zig as if it were yesterday. I had recently joined a network marketing company within the personal development industry, and we had purchased some audio cd’s to listen to as we were on the road. Amy had just purchased her dream vehicle, a Hummer (H2), and we were driving through the Salt River Canyon, between Showlow and Globe, Arizona.

As I listened to Zig, he was captivating, and had  a great speaking ability. His audio was mixed in with several other professional speakers and his message seemed to stick out above the rest.

Hilary Hinton “Zig” Ziglar, was a great author, salesman, a veteran and public speaker, to name a few. His message has inspired the hearts of many.

Bing It On Again! Bing or Google?

December 6th, 2012 | Comments Off on Bing It On Again! Bing or Google? |

As I was surfing around the web yesterday, I stumbled across a banner ad that lead me to the Bing It On page. I tell you what, as a splash page, Bing has done all the right things to keep people there. I was interested…and not just because I could win something, but because I am an internet marketer. Search engine results matter to me. (I know, I’m a geek!)

Bing It On

For those of you who haven’t seen the Bing commercials, the setting is a typical street survey theme where a host stops random people and asks them to do a search online. Two results are displayed and they’re asked to choose which shows them the results they like best. And of course, every single one of those that Bing shows on their commercials chose Bing as their search engine of choice.

So I thought, of course everyone they spotlight on their own commercial is going to choose the Bing search results. Why would they show anyone who was choosing Google? So when I stumbled onto the actual Bing It On page, I was on a mission to prove a point. I wanted to see how accurate Bing’s commercials really are!

Five minutes later, here are my results:
