Last year I thought of a new idea for the next network marketing company. That idea involved hosting as the primary product. My only hang up was how to make our prices competitive against the hosting monsters of the internet such as Godaddy, Hostgator and many others. I thought it to be a waste of time and impossible for it to produce enough profit for independent marketers.

In the world of network marketing, lead generation is the life blood of your business. Without leads, your business is dead in the water. It’s call lead poverty.

So naturally, home based business owners will try almost everything under the sun to generate quality leads. One method commonly used is a popup contact form on their website or blog. We’ve all heard both positive and negative feedback about popups. We’ve been to the sites which have so many popups that you can’t even access the content you’re looking for and are forced to leave the site. And by leaving the site, you get another popup saying, “Wait! Don’t leave. Blah, Blah, Blah.” It can be extremely annoying.

One of the biggest mistakes any home based business entrepreneur can make is to put all your eggs into one basket. What I mean by that, is only having one source of income. My intention isn’t to scare you into thinking that the opportunity you are with is going to shut down tomorrow, but what if? It’s better to be prepared than not.

Without taking too much focus and attention away from your main business, there are ways to make money online outside of your primary home based business choice.

When I write the words, “Home Based Business,” you might automatically assume I am writing about a Network Marketing opportunity or some type of an MLM. When all it really means is exactly what it reads, a home based business, or a business based at home. Since the words “home based business” have been tagged to the network marketing industry, the non-network marketing businesses have been tagged as “work at home jobs” or “work at home businesses.”
