WordPress Mobile Phone Apps

August 25th, 2010

You know what? Life actually gets busy sometimes! Yeah….who knew right? With all the hustle and bustle of day to day activities, it can be difficult to find the time to do a blog post. Between helping the kids with their homework, the honey-do’s, walking the dog, exercising, eating and everything else in between, finding time to blog can be a chore. But hopefully, if you’re looking to be effective, you won’t look at blogging as a chore. It’s a business.

And if you are anything like anyone else, you have a cell phone with you almost all the time. Well, what if you happened to be sitting at the dentist waiting for your appointment, waiting in the airport or relaxing on the beach, and you happen to have a WordPress mobile app installed on your phone? What could you possibly do with something like that? Instead of wondering how to cram the time in later or wondering when you were gonna to have access to a laptop, do a quick post right then and there from your phone!

If something like that would be helpful to you, I just happen to have a few links you might want to check out.

WordPress for:

If you don’t use any of these phones, do a search for your specific phone. Chances are, there will be an app available. If not, try searching for plugins that will make things a little easier when posting from your cell phone, like the WordPress Mobile Admin. They lighten to load a bit for you.

So there….no more excuses. Happy blogging!

MailChimp for Email Marketing

December 1st, 2009

mailchimpThis is a real quick post as a follow up to the Want to Start an Email Marketing Campaign post I did last week. In that post I had mentioned “Constant Contact” as a source for your email marketing campaign. However great the service, they do not accept accounts from certain industries. Some of these industries include Network Marketing, Online Medical supplies, Mortgages and Loans and many others. The list is pretty long and in my opinion, they should have just made a list of all industries they do accept. It might have been a shorter list!

I did come across another site, MailChimp. I signed up, of course, and created an email campaign based on motivational, inspirational and empowering Movie Quotes. Feel free to subscribe. MailChimp is a great service for the beginner as it is very simple to use and it can be used for free. You can send up to 3000 emails per month for free, forever, as long as you have less than 500 subscribers. It has an easy to use custom form builder for forms that can be embedded onto your website or subscribe page. Setting up an email template was very easy and simple to use. It took me less than 10 minutes to sign up, set up an email campaign, design a logo for my emails and enter a few quotes.

I still consider myself a newby in email marketing but know the effect it can, is and will have on my business. For those of you involved in Network Marketing or online marketing, have your leads go to an email marketing system that you can customize to your marketing ideas. You own your lead list. Use it with care, use it wisely and give value to your readers!

Mint: A Fresh Look at Your Site

November 24th, 2009

MintI can see you! No really. I can see when, how and for what you are here on my site right now, as you read this post. I know, old news right. Tracking software is old news. Well, for a lot of people I know, it’s a brand new concept, or at least something they haven’t seen the value in as of yet. For those of you who pay special attention to what you are being found for on the world wide web, then tracking software is a vital and important part to your marketing campaign.

Allow me to introduce you to the tracking software I currently use to monitor visits to my site. It’s called Mint at haveamint.com. It’s a simple, self-hosted tracking software integrated into your blog or website that shows you real time statistics for your site. Here are a few things it gives you:

  • Your most Recent visits. Including the key phrase they searched for to reach your site. This includes a link to click on to see the search engine they used or referring site.
  • Keywords of Key Phrases you are most commonly found for.
  • Images your were found for.
  • An hourly record of unique visits and page views along with an archive of your weekly, monthly and past years traffic results including easy to read graphs.
  • A list of up to the past 72 hours of the most visited pages on your site.

Mint is a software designed to give you useful information about your site at a single glance. And sure, there are things it doesn’t do and services it doesn’t compare to, but by a simple click on an icon in my bookmarks Toolbar, you have access to how your site is being seen and found on the net.

I have had Mint installed for over a year now and I believe it was $35 US but has now been reduced to $30 US. It is a one time fee. There are no recurring monthly fees, which is nice.

I can tell you that I have been found for some pretty interesting key phrases recently. I get found for:

The list goes on and on and on. And there you have it. Have fun with it. I know you will find it useful, however, I need to attach a bit of advice.

Question: The following statements are true of false:  The longer you stare at your stats, the better they get. The more often you look at your stats the more they improve.

Answer: False! Simply looking at your stats will not improve your stats. You must not get addicted at always checking. Do the work and know that mint will do its part and tell you your results!

Skype Screen Sharing

October 29th, 2009

Skype Screen SharingSince this blog is all about Entrepreneurship, I figured that Entrepreneurship tools would also fall into my overall theme. I know that I am always on the lookout for cool tools to use online that will make it easier for me to do my business and to train others in my organization to better do theirs as well. And if you’re anything like me, I am all into visual learning….especially when it comes down to internet marketing.

So for those of you who are Skype users, there is a feature that allows you to share your computer screen with the person you are talking to. Now this is all in real time. In order to make it work, you must:

  • Have the most recent version of Skype. At the time of this article, the version I have is 4.1.0.166
  • Click on the person you would like to call, which opens a separate window for them, click on “Call” in the list of commands up top, click on “Share Your Screen.” When you do this, it will tell you that an audio call will begin as well.
  • OR, Call the person you would like to share your screen with, once they answer, click on “Call” in the command bar up top then click on “Share Your Screen.”

Very simple but high quality. I have used it several times already. It’s a great, quick way to share your screen without having to set up an account with some other screen sharing company. There is one catch, as of right now, you can only share your screen with just one person at a time. You cannot share your screen with multiple users by adding them to the conference call. Maybe this is a feature that will be added in the near future. That would be cool!

Skype is an amazing tool, especially if you are doing an international business. The rates are next to nothing and the quality of the calls are pretty good. It has significantly reduced my phone bills and keeps me connected to all those that I mastermind with on a regular basis. Business just gets easier and easier!
